Take a different perspective

For all the backs of heads and turned shoulders I’ve captured on film (or memory card) over the years, you might think I’d learn to avoid that perspective.

But sometimes, picturing one’s back is purposeful.

Like these images I took this past week on a vacation in Mexico:

My Beloved and his "Mini Me" 17-year-old son kicked back during an al fresca dinner on the beach at sunset.

While I sat on the deck of the catamaran, I snapped this shot of my stepson surveying the horizon. This image captures the feeling that he is on the verge of discovery, on the boat but in life, too.

As you pose images this holiday season, consider taking a different angle: Mom standing at the stove, a child admiring the Christmas tree, Dad surveying his work hanging Christmas lights. You might like what you find.
